Sound of tinnitus of music composer Bedrich Smetana

Famous czech composer Bedrich Smetana, who lived in 19th century (this year was 190th birth anniversary and 130th death anniversary), suffered with deafness and also with tinnitus (it happened in year 1874 and it continued until his death, thus its 140th anniversary - strange indeed!). In one of his works, Quartet No. 1 in E Minor (subtitled "From my life" - with autobiographical character), he placed sound which corresponded with his tinnitus - a constant high-pitched tone played by violin. You can hear it now:

My name is Ján Mrva and I live in Slovakia. I will remember June 7th, 2012 for the rest of my life. On that day I became a victim of acoustic trauma, as a result of which I suffer from chronic tinnitus in both ears, and partial hearing loss. Like many others, I literally went through hell and only after two years I am starting to pull myself together, although still having dark periods.

During the two hellish years, however, I have gained considerable knowledge about the problem of tinnitus. This experience could also help others sufferers from tinnitus. I have learned about the causes of tinnitus, various treatments and therapies. Therefore, I decided to write this blog. I hope that the information contained in it will help sufferers with relieving tinnitus and deliver the same hope for a cure, as I have.

So, dear friends and fellow sufferers, cheer up: fight our suffering with the hope that once again we hear silence, sleep well and retrieve the lost enjoy of life.
